A Butterfly-Themed 50th Birthday Party
We are delighted to share this celebration of our dear friend’s 50th birthday. Jennifer came to us last September to start planning custom paper goods for her special day. We collaborated on many custom design elements including a custom monogram and the perfect color palette to bring the event to life. The birthday party took place in April in the gardens at The Hotel Crescent Court, thoughtfully planned by another dear friend, Meaghan Cody of Sweet Pea Events.
We started with a design inspiration board, capturing the colors, ink palettes and calligraphy styles we planned to incorporate into the custom invitation suite.
From the start, we knew we wanted to implement a butterfly theme, as these delicate insects have a special meaning to Jennifer. We designed the reply card to be a die-cut butterfly shape. The paper for this card was extra thick, with colorful type in pink and orange. This complemented the large, modern square shape of the main invitation, which featured beautiful champagne foil stamping that added a touch of elegance and femininity, traits shared by Jennifer herself! Butterflies made their way to the envelope liner as well, bringing a sense of cohesion to the invitation suite and setting the tone for this lovely event.
Playing into butterflies as a metaphor for transformation and hope, we introduced the line “fluttering into 50” in the invitation design. This line also made its way onto the colorful custom cocktail napkin design.
The bright envelopes were dreamy, and thanks to custom calligraphy by Tara Jones, the words appeared to flutter off the page. Such a treat for the guests to receive.
We had just as much fun designing the day of details. From cocktail napkins to bar signs, we maintained a cohesive look throughout the event.
This celebration was truly a special day for Jennifer and her guests. The floral was stunning, designed by one of our favorite floral designers, Branching Out Events. And the photographer, Carol Vig, captured all the lovely details.
It was truly an honor to design for such a special friend. Here’s to many more happy birthdays!
